Sounds about right. I enquired to JLR and thier reply was :-
Thank you for contacting us with your query. There are plug-in hybrid (PHEV) versions of both the Range Rover Evoque and Land Rover Discovery Sport due to be revealed later this year. Unfortunately we don't have any specific dates or pricing information at the moment, however any news released will first be posted on our Media Centre here: https://media.landrover.com/en

It will be interesting to see how this car turns out. I have heard that the ICE will be a 3 cylinder unit, which sounds rather puny for a car of this size. I believe that the power unit will also be fitted to other LR models, such as the Discovery Sport and Velar. However, the 2 litre PHEV unit fitted to the Range Rover Sport also sounds puny, but is reported to work very well with the electric motor.
Since most of my journeys are quite short, but with the occasional long journey, a PHEV looks like the perfect compromise, so long as I can do the first 20-30 miles exclusively on EV.

Speaking to a Land Rover salesman, he is not expecting the PHEV to be released very soon. He thinks that it will arrive first in the Jaguar E-Pace (EV-Pace?) with other cars built on that platform like the Evoque coming along shortly afterwards. It will reach the larger platform later with the launch of the new F-Pace and with the Discovery Sport probably in about 18 months. Don't treat this as gospel, though. I think that the salesman is piecing limited information together.
There seems complete confusion or lack of knowledge (or both!) across the dealerships. Called Guy Salmon at Stockport and the Sales Exec there told me there wasn’t going to be a PHEV and an all electric model would be released in 18 months!
Spoke with someone else who sources our company lease vehicles, he checked with his contact at JLR and told me it’d be May this year!
So.... still none the wiser!

I had a chat yesterday with a chap who works at the JLR factory at Halewood. Production has just started on the PHEV Evoque - made 50 so far and this coming week they aim to get 100 off the line. The car will be going live at the delearships beginning of March ..........

At long last, the car is now on the LR site - spec done and emailed to my dealer!

Be interesting to see how they do, someone along our road had the Range Rover sport PHEV but recently noticed they had gone back to the tdv6 model.
Do they work for jlr? HThat lot change their cars pretty regularly. (management's wise anyway/engineering fleet)
