I need help to locate the seatbelt mounting points on a series III cab as I am looking to fit one and my existing setup will no longer work.

Currently, the reels are mounted on a roll bar behind the bulkhead which will be inaccessible once the cab is fitted. I have seen vertical bars that can be fitted in the rear of the cab to mount the reels but this seems to be for 90s only.

Does anyone know where I could mount the seatbelts or where I could buy the parts?

As far as I know, there is very little useful info on fitting betls to a truck cab.

An option is to use the upper belt mount from a hard top and turn it upside side and fit to the other side. So it mounts to the bulk head, then the cab by the door shut. Not ideal, but will work, although depending on what seats and if you want inertia reel belts, you may or may not have plenty of room.

This bracket:


Turn it up the other way and fit on the other side of the vehicle, so it mounts down, rather than up.

Yep, two of those, one per side obviously. They are are essentially the top mounts. Mine came in a galvanised gold finish, which I painted and then covered in a trim panel biggrin Depending on the age of your series, you will have to drill holes in the roof and side panel as not all come with the holes. Think they secure using two M6 30mm nut and bolts (I think) for the top and one for the bottom. However, I ended up using a smaller M6 Allen bolt as it was all I could squeeze in because of the side panel frame (Mine is running early 1960s station wagon side panels)

For the lower mount, you don't just turn the above bracket the other way, you buy the proper bracket for the job. See Link below:

There are numerous options for mounting the inertia Reels. Mine is a commercial bodied variant, so I have more options than a pick up.

I had some 6mm steel plate cut to size and then had some 4mm steel spreader plates made. I then mounted the plates to ali c section that goes over the top of the bulkhead. My reels are mounted using all three bolts complete with threadlock. It works ok. In hindsight, I wish I had L section steel made up and I could have then bolted through the top of the plate onto the C section.

At the time I spent ages googling this subject and I stumbled on this idea when I saw a Series at a show with this install. Below doesn't show it in huge detail, but you get the idea. Behind the top top bolts is a longer 4mm steel spreader plate.

Thanks both. It’s given me confidence that a safe set up is possible without too much work. Could use brackets from the hardtop too since it’s rarely on. Pictures really helped too.

Now I just need to find a suitable cab that doesn’t look like it’s been trampled on by a herd of wildebeest and then dropped in a pond for 40 years.

God yes. I am always on the hunt for a safari roof and some of the cr%£ that some people try and sell is unbelievable. There was a pick up roof on ebay that looked like it had been used as a target at a air rifle shooting content!

You can also get a small roll over bar which is designed to offer you the top mounts for the seat belts but you still have to find somewhere for the reels.

I think they were wanting to fit a pick-up cab, which doesn't support seat belt mounting very well. A 90/110 cab has a fitting as part of the cab structure, up by your left ear (drivers side) to attach the upper belt mount too. A Series cab doesn't and there isn't a direct factory option as far as I know. The roll hoops won't fit with a truck cab.
