Petrol (286) Discovery Sport

I’ve got the 300hp petrol in the full size
Disco and it’s actually very good. Can be slightly sluggish off the line but once it gets on the turbo it really shifts, I haven’t missed the torque of the 3.0 diesel yet.
There’s probably more sound deadening in the big Disco but it’s very smooth, quiet and not too raucous when you give it some beans. I’ve had six cylinder engines that sound worse so it really doesn’t feel out of place in an expensive car, unlike the four-pot diesel which is truly dreadful.
The downside......fuel consumption! It’s awful. 29mpg on a long run, low 20s on a steady thirty minute commute and 15mpg on a 2 mile run to the shops and back. Average is about 19mpg.
Not sure whether I’d go for it again but I’m happy with it so far. I certainly wouldn’t have the 2.0 diesel as it’s awful, the petrol is far far nicer.
