2013 90 DPF Red Light & Limp Mode
Discussion
Would appreciate any thoughts on advice I'm being given following diagnostic check by LR main dealer:
Last week I parked my 90 and left the side lights on. Came home to a dead battery. Nice man from the AA came out and jumped it so I could get home.
Trouble was, when it started the red DPF light came on (never had any issues before, and no amber light beforehand), along with the engine malfunction light, and 90 was in limp mode.
Main dealer, who's looked after a raft of LRs for me and my wife for 10 years+, had it this week to figure out the issue as I'm certain the flat battery / jumping and the DPF / warnings / limp mode must be connected as WAY too coincidental to have just happened at the same time. Being advised that the error codes in the ECU indicate that the DPF is completely sooted up and needs to be replaced (c.GBP2.5k), although they might be able to force the DPF to regenerate manually.
Having read up about keeping the DPF healthy, whilst I do quite a few short journeys, my 90 fairly regularly (at least once a month) does a good hour on the motorway / dual carriageway at speeds / rpm suitable to allow it to regenerate. Also never had any DPF warnings in the 5 years or so that I've had my 90.
Before I write a cheque to have it replaced, I wanted to see if anyone had any advice / similar experiences.
Thanks
