Tinkering with the Handbrake
Discussion
Had some time earlier today to investigate why the n/s handbrake has been making silly noises over the past couple of applications. It's not pretty.
Not felt anything driving the car, no rumblings, scrapings or grinding noises. No overheating, no binding, no excess dust.
Just a screech when lifting the button, but a different screech to the noise the handbrake module makes when dying.
The drum was full of dust, properly coked. There were no measurable parts of the lining fragments left floating around in there just a handful of crumbs to go with the dust.
I can only presume that a small chunk of lining broke off initially then bounced around causing mayhem as it went.
