3.0 TDV6 Turbo Oil Drain Pipe Mod
Discussion
As the title suggests has anyone had this done ? Seems to be well documented.
My symptoms are excessive and I mean excessive blue smoke when the 2nd turbo kicks in @2800rpm. 15-20 seconds later the smoke has gone - if you have lifted off the gas.
Normal driving keeping the revs under 2800 no smoke - can go for weeks on end with no smoke - I dont drive it hard, but Id rather it was sorted.
Anyhow the car is booked in this coming Friday to have the mod done ( shorter drain pipe fitted ) and the intercooler and associated parts in the flow flushed to remove any residual oil. Cost of kit @£90 plus 3 hrs labour.
Anyone had this done and did it erradicate the smoke issue instantly ?
FWIW no smoke whatsoever on cold morning startup, idling, nor al driving etc etc but the second you hit that 2800rpm whoosh, ease off the gas 15-20 secs of normal driving all clear again.#
What Im wondering about is that the car is a 2010 facelift RRS, sub 100K miles - why has it not been fixed before ? is it something that creeps up over time ? maybe the prev owner panicked and decided to sell or took it to someone who didnt have a clue who suggested blown turbo \ oil seals \ piston rings and impending borking. Anyhow I will update Friday night :-)
