Has anyone heard any rumours of an all-electric option on the new Defender? I know there will be a PHEV available initially but are there any longer term plans for a non-ICE car?

I've not read anything specific to that effect. The platform can take it, but I'm not convinced the model can.
However, with the new tie-up with BMW to develop electric stuff (amongst other things) who knows what the future might bring?

In order to survive a manufacturer almost has to provide an all-electric option.
Can’t see JLR being any different and they already do it with some of their other offerings.

Latest rumor mill suggest that there will be a 6cyl HST version of the Defender with the 48V Supercharger. I can't help but feel that is going to be a 'one to avoid' on the used market in 5-7 years time.

However in the long term, there may be a Freelander replacement running on a BMW platform and if they have any sense, they will use an all electric drive train.

If they launch a defender full EV that could well be my next car - have an iPace at the moment but would have chosen LR rather than Jag EV if available. Depends on price though, which might be a killer! And it remains to be seen what the range will be like - the iPace is effectively around 200 miles so hard to see defender (bigger, less aerodynamic and heavier) being anything other than worse than that

The various reviewers seem to have been told there will not be a full EV version of the new defender. There will be a PHEV. But Until they arrive (or don’t) who knows
