Identifying a distributor...

Apologies if this thread is a bit feeble, but could any of you give a newbie the things you need to look for to identify which type of distributor you've got? I've been through my haynes manual, and they don't seem to mention it. I've heard one person say that the ducellier system has a brown cap, but there must be more to it than that? FYI, 1976 series 3, 2.25 petrol. Many thanks!

Look at the casing of the distributor, the manufacturers name is moulded in on a Lucas distributor.
