Sums up Range Rovers!

Picture the scene - Goodwood Festival of Speed 2019; Friday afternoon; the Land Rover stand.
I find myself happily perched in the driving seat of a top of the range Range Rover and am loving it. It's metallic blue with a cream leather interior, which is my perfect colour scheme, and is beautiful. I look around the interior at all the luxury touches, I hold the steering wheel and look out over the big, flat bonnet and I remind myself that, one day, I will own another of these magnificent cars that I have adored since I was small.
And then i glance at the elegant and sleek LCD dashboard and what does it say?
"Gearbox Fault".
Even I had to laugh...

That is inexcusable for a show car. I wouldn't mind so much much, but the FOS is considered one of the most prestigious motoring shows in the world, yet LR let a car disply with 'gearbox fault'.
Its moments like this, that I wonder if there is some truth in PSA buying Land Rover. Surely Tata will have their limits of what they will tolerate and the figures for JLR don't look good.

It will be because of how the box has been immobilised to stop anyone taking it out of park and rolling it through a crown of people by accident - but it's poor form not to have an option to code out the message on a show car as the majority of people won't understand that's why it's showing said message.I find myself happily perched in the driving seat of a top of the range Range Rover and am loving it. They are utterly st
I ran a Mk1 RR Sport for 8y from new
At 6y in it munched its alternator and then at 7y a ride height sensor threw a strop which cost a frankly ludicrous £50 for for a replacement part and DOUBLE for fitting and calibration at an indie
WHAT A RIP OFF #dailymail
Anyway now Im in a new Volvo estate
Its just over 6 months old and has had faults and recalls for Nav, cruise control, driver aids and then the lights failed just before I needed it for an overnight drive
Much, much better than the JLR heap of dung which preceded it
It even sips petrol at a scarcely believable and eco friendly 33mpg on the motorway when my old 2008 TDV8 dinosaur could only manage an embarrassing 29mpg at the speed limit
Cheers
I need a reassuring hug - I will be collecting a new to me 2010 Range Rover Sport HSE 3.0 TDV6 on Tuesday. 92k miles.
Excellent condition and full history - car will come with 6 months RAC warranty also - reading some of the scare stories on here make me think I will be driving with fingers crossed everytime I get in to drive it. Well maybe not so much for the first 6 months.
Reassure me . . . . .

I'm assuming this post is missing a winking smilie, as it sounds like not only did you have a pretty reliable Land Rover product on the scale of things, but your Volvo sounds like an unreliable heap of junk! I ran a Mk1 RR Sport for 8y from new

As to 33mpg from your Volvo - I though they all had 2 litre engines now? If that's the case, than that's rubbish! I use to get 35mpg from my old 2 litre petrol Focus that I generally drove like its arse was on fire.
"I don’t want to put another 16k miles on a Range Rover with no warranty..."
I read the above on another thread this morning. I didn't react there as I didn't want to derail the thread, but I found it a damning indictment.
In fairness, you read the same sort of comments regarding warranty about other luxury marques.

Have you done any research? Is the 2010 the 6 Speed? Get the gearbox flushed immediately. Stamps in the book mean absolutely nothing I'm afraid,
3.0 is a nice engine. The extra power is welcome over the old 2.7. Yes there is the crank to worry about on the 3.0, but there is nothing you can do about it apart from regular oil changes, so best to just carry on as normal
