I'm thinking of getting a nearly new RR but was wondering if there is a new model due anytime soon. I know there was a recent refresh

Next model (called the L460) is due in 2021/22 according to various sites and articles.

IIRC - LR wanted to get onto a 10yr cycle for their models & engines, with a 50/50 overlap (i.e. 5yrs new chassis with existing engine, then 5yrs with existing chassis and new engine... Rinse & repeat...)

However, with the current state of the market that could all change... Either bring new models forward to help 'stimulate' or 'sweat' the existing models for longer. Personally, I suspect the latter.

Interesting thank you.

I was looking at a nearly new one and then decided to look for the cheapest L405 and found a 100k mile 2013 4.4 vogue SE for £26K and a 60k mile one at £29K from a trader. Thats a lot of car for the money. I part exchanged my L405 6 months ago for £37K with 66K miles on it, have prices dropped this much so quickly. Makes me question why I would get a nearly new one as the family bus!

I've been looking at the L405 market with a view to replacing my L322.

Lots on the market and I think prices may well tumble further / faster to some degree. Climate change issues / brexit / JLR announcing deletion of internal combustion engines etc are all contributing along with the new model just a couple of years away.

Asking prices seem a little ambitious. Looked at a 58,000 mile 4.4 SDV8 for sale privately circa 36k. WBAC valuation just under 22k and Parkers valued approx 28k on a private sale basis.

I'd certainly think carefully before picking up a nearly new one at this stage as I'd suspect there will be quite a hit more than normal over the next 12 months.....

Good points and getting fed up of depreciation. I went from a L405 2013 6 months ago to a nearly new M5 and looking at around £15K depreciation over that time on the M5 which is hideous. However I did part ex the L405 for it based on £38K, its probably worth 30K now. If you can accept the higher running costs of an older L405 then why not. Stick a private plate on and the majority of people will think its newish.
