07 Range Rover - Time to cut losses?
Discussion
Look for some advice.
07' Range Rover Vouge 3.6L TDV8 - 150k miles
Car broke down on the motorway yesterday and had to get it recovered. The issue at first looked like burst coolant pipe at the back of the engine but not there is a leak coming from more than one place and the diagnosis doesn't look good. The car in working order is not only worth about £4500-£5000 so the prospect of a bill in the thousands is making wonder do I just sell it for part?
If I want to go down this route, what are my best chances of damage limitation? Who should I be contacting?

I got rid of my 2004 4.4V8 a year after spending £2k on the cooling system when I discovered that the grumbling noises in the gearbox meant I needed a 'box rebuild and a new torque converter - about £3000 worth.
The car was worth about about £4500 at the time and I got £2750 for it as it was. I do miss it and, even more irritatingly, the chap who bought it only lives a few miles from me so I still see it quite regularly!
Ultimately, the decision is up to you but i would say it doesn't sound worth it and there are plenty more out there. There's no need to sell it for parts, though - just bung it on eBay as it is, deduct the approximate cost of repairs from the asking price and be honest about what's wrong with it. Someone will snap it up.
