Underside image of FL2? P To identify presence of DPF...
Discussion
Hi guys,
I am looking to purchase a pre 2010 Freelander 2.
Having obtained the VIN and rang JLR themselves they seem clueless about telling me whether the car came from factory with the optional DPF fitted on 2009/2010 cars.
I think when viewing I'll be looking for a sooty exhaust but also want to get underneath to make sure. Does anyone have a picture of the underside so I can easily identify if the car has one?
Thanks
Hanns

Would DPF fit be part of the VIN as is the case with EGR on 300 TDi Defenders?
With the greatest of respect, I'm having a real headache trying to get a straight answer regards DPF on the FL2.I'd rather the topic stayed on point.
Thanks

I suppose my reply was too subtle.
On my Defender the VIN has a letter code which is different if EGR is fitted or not.
VIN has the leading part describing type, engine, emissions etc. for homologation purposes.
This will be the case with FL2 also.
Was this what you were looking for:
"On a Freelander 2 the 8th character of the vin will tell you if it had a dpf fitted when first built in the factory. If the 8th character is C or E then it has a dpf."

Have a good one!
