Hello all!!!!

Having been a TVR owner for a while now I didn't realise that there was an actuve group in here for Landy owners. I have had many a good time in lots of series Landrovers, and so have tried the freelander 1.8 3dr out for size. Here it is..

I have just seen that simmonites make a front end conversion to the latest style and so have emailed them for a response on the important bit.. the money!!!

I was thinking of upgrading the narrow 15" wheels to the range rover 18" with the conversion adapter they do to, providing that I can find a set cheap enough.

I was working on a 5 stud conversion for the TVR when I discovered that the TVR spider wheels are the same PCD pattern 5 x 114 ET35 , these come in 16" and 18".

So from a 195/80/15 Tyre to using the 16" rims I would need 215/60/16's

Would 18" be too big at 225/55/18, on the Freelander that is?

Many thanks in advance. There has been some useful information here so far.

Glad its normal that the coupling makes it feel like the handbrakes on when using full lock!

Hi Steve,

I had a response from simmonites, the conversion is done at their premesis takes 3-4 days. the cost is £895 not including the spot lamps. These are an extra £108 this does include VAT.

I was in contact with the UK Freelander club, who seems to think two or three members have converted their own cars for a lot less.

I am quite handy with a spanner and would like to know the best place to buy the landrover components from and paint/fit myself!

Anyone else who is interested in converting their pre-2003 freelander then get in touch, as buying more than one kit is a sure way for some discount.

Wheels are on the back burner as I dont know if I should use 16" or 17", I think 18's are too big, after all its not a GTi.

There's normally at least one or two ebay sellers with the later headlights/bumper/grille etc you need to update the Freelander to the newer shape front.

The Freelander Sport came with 18" wheels, so it might be worth having a look along that route.
Again, in this case, Ebay is your friend!

It'll take only a few minutes to do a search for the bits you might require and while you are looking, have a peek at the Lotus or MGF pages to if there are any upgraded cyl heads on offer....
