I have an old '03 Disco which isn't rotten (yet) and I'd like to keep it that way

Any recommendations for rust treatment places? I absolutely do not want to do it myself!

I had older LRs back in the 90s / 00s and seem to remember there was a place that advertised all the time, but caused controversy wherever it went, who still seems to be about these days

Quick google seems there are few alternatives?

I see you are in MK. Quite local to me.

It really depends how much money you want to spend. There are many different products out there, although many work in broadly the same way. The important thing is catching early before rot sets in. Doing this and preventing it will work wonders.

My brother and I do a few vehicles a year. It's not really a business, but we work on our own vehicles and friends and family vehicles, so we do a few others every now and again too. For these we work out of a workshop in Slip-end, so about 30 mins from MK.

I'll shoot you a PM and let me know if you are interested. We normally only do weekends, but might do an evening. But it normally takes a good few hours for a full treatment.

Buzzweld products is what want. There are a number of treatment centers in the UK, but unfortunately not as many as there are dintrol and Waxoyl places.

Buzzweld is pretty much the go to product for rust prevention on LRs. I've used it on a few places on my series and it was pretty easy to apply and the finish is really good.

Buzzweld is owned by a guy called Craig Jones and he is very active on the FB LR groups, so should be easy enough to track down.

You can do it your self, but its the prep that takes the time.

Also, have a good poke around at 2002, you might find some nasty surprises,,,

Had my Range Rover done at CSK in Hoddesdon. They carried out their full "extreme" treatment, from their site;

CSK Automotive Extreme Treatment said:
Thoroughly cleaned and all rust eleminated by applying ML rust inhibitior to the full undercarriage. Once dry we seal the full undercarriage including chassis, floor sections, suspension arms, brake disc covers, steering bars, front/rear trailing arms, wheel carrier supports, tank/tank guard, boot floor, front/rear bumper internal supports, arch externals with black 4941 top coat. Clear coat cavity wax is then injected into the internal sections of the chassi to treat the inside out - this clear coat is also applied to the door inners and body seems before a clean off and seal to body work.
This came in at just under £600, having done similar jobs myself in the past I was more than happy to hand that over for someone else to do it!

I’ve used ccautomotive (zagato on defender2.net) on my defender and CSK on my old RRC and a mate has used before’nafter.

The only one you should use is ccautomotive - I had a very bad experience with CSK’s rustproofing. Chris (zagato) on the other hand I can’t praise enough, he is almost passionate about doing a cracking job. Read his feedback on defender2.net.

Beforenafter are a bit divisive it seems - mate had an ok experience but it was a messy place and a messy job.

I have a Series 3. The engine/drivetrain is an ingenious design whereby it loses small amounts of oil over time that self rust proof the chassis behind it. Keeping the various oil seals & gaskets leak free is a task akin to painting the Forth Railway Bridge. You sort one of the bugg*rs out and another one goes elsewhere.
