L322 eratic climate control

Hello all - new to Range Rover ownership (as in 3 days), but very much enjoying the experience so far! I have an 05 supercharged which is just awesome, but there is a small niggle with the climate control - as in it's sh*t. It doesn't seem to be able to hold a stable temperature. I've also noticed a buzzing/ticking when I turn the ignition off that seems to be coming from behind the centre console. Could they be related? Could it be the temperature control fan on the blink?
Any and all ideas very welcome
