Cooper AT3 4S - thoughts ??
Discussion
I'm about to replace my BF Goodrich Mud Terrain tyres on my TD5 Defender 90 Hardtop, as they're very much end of life.
They came on the Defender 8 years ago with 30k miles on the clock. Now at 90k and no complaints apart from the noise (ahhgg that noise) and they do chew up the turf and then deposit it on my stone driveway.
I don't need muds as 99% is on tarmac but I do live on a farm in deep Herefordshire countryside with muddy and icy roads that are not gritted and have lots of pot holes. I also do a lot of towing and can often tow trailers onto and off fields.
So I'm thinking of a set of All Terrains. Researching the web the new Cooper AT3 4AS (All Season) tyres are top of my list. They claim to be as quiet as any other AT and provide better wet & icy grip than any others. However they seem to be aimed at the SUV sector and I can only find reviews of them being tested on Dacia Dusters and alike - where they perform incredibly well. I have phoned Cooper UK but all they could say is they're a new tyre and they don't know much about them. They did give me a name and number of their Techie guy but he never picks up.
So, are they suitable for Defenders or should I be looking at a more robust tyre such as the Cooper ST Maax or BF Goodrich AT K02?

Nothing stated as being rated for 'P' but in the States (only) they do offer a 'LT' version for larger pick up trucks. These tend to be available in larger sizes.
The load rating of the 265/75r16 is quoted as 116 which shows as a max of 1,250kg per tyre. This would seem more than enough.
