I just replaced the battery in my Discovery 4 and there's no sign of life.

Everything is tight but I notice this green connector isn't fitted ... and I can't see where it goes.

Any ideas where it should go? ... and if this will solve the overall problem of zero power?

Help. frown

I found a place for the connector (on the main +ve cable) but it looks like just a dummy parking slot.

Still zero electrical power anywhere. frown

Thanks for that. thumbup

Now I'm not worried about the mystery connector. smile

... but the car is still black. frown

I'm wondering if it's completely disabled itself as a result of the battery being disconnected.

If there's something clever I should be doing with the key, there's no mention of it in the handbook. frown

couple basic checks - does the battery have power? I.e. what's it reading with a multimeter/does it light a test lamp? Is the battery installed the correct way round (+ve cable to +ve terminal/-ve to -ve)?

what was the issue that led to the battery being changed?

Hiya.

New battery tests ok.

Definitely the right way round.

The old battery was weak when the car had been sitting for a few days but fine after a run. On Saturday it just wouldn't fire the starter. The clock reset but there was still some power - like to lock / unlock.

Do you have a multimeter? If so, check for continuity from the chassis to the battery negative - earth lead may have been damaged during removal/refitting of the battery.

Does the central locking still work? And if so, does it work from the fob or only the key? Or can you only unlock using the key and it only operates the 1 door? Just wondering whether the car is failing to recognise the key.

There are no tricks or procedures to change the battery.

Mine went flat last week in France, just whipped the old one out, popped the new on in and all was well.
