As a member of a club we benefit from a discount on the Skytag GPS tracker, I'm interested in using this and wondered whether it would result in a reduction in the insurance premium for both vehicles, even if only when renewing the policy.

No it won't was the answer.

Was it unreasonable of me to expect otherwise?

I've got Skytags in a couple of LRs and it made no difference to the insurance premiums. Similarly my father put one is his TVR and that didn't affect his insurance policy. To be honest I fitted them for my own peace of mind rather than anything else. Had them a few years though and no complaints, always quick to get a notification if I disconnect the battery for maintenance work etc.

You would be better to ask insurers who they approve of, I know that the NFU offers a 12.5% discount on premiums if your vehicle is fitted with an Automatrics M-Track https://www.trackersecurity.co.uk/AutomatricsSales...

If you go on YouTube and search "Automatricks M-track" they have loads of recoveries from scooters to hydraulic breaker attachment.
