After 7 weeks of my 66 plate RR being laid up at the dealer due to a failed turbo, JLR have been unable to source a £70 oil return pipe required to complete the warranty repair. It seems unimaginable to me that JLR can not source a part, but moreover cannot even give any reliable ETA for when it will be available. Despite the dealer network and customer services being friendly enough they seem to struggle to grasp how irritating it is to have your £100K+ car off the road indefinitely and think its acceptable to provide a loan vehicle of substantively differently quality and capability. Having spoken to customer services they now tell me it will be the new year at least before I see my car on the road again, but then again no guarantee. Thankfully I brought the car on finance and now that I’ve paid 50% of the value I’m going to return it and it can be their problem. I’ll leave the brand and never return now....all over a £70 part and a lack of customer service.

Anyway my point of the post is to warn others about what seems to be a failing in the JLR parts supply chain that impacts owners, but also if anyone knows where I can get JLR part #LR066536 then please let me know - I’ll happily buy it so that I can fit the pipe to the car and drive it to the nearest JLR return site.

JLR aren't alone. VAG products suffer similarly, it seems that manufacturers prioritise the assembly plants requirements over the dealer networks. That combined with recalls with sufficient stock piling beforehand means (especially on new models) warranty work often results in long lead times.

In the good old days when Brum was a city of a thousand trades, I'd lay a shade of odds that if you took the old pipe to any number of workshops they'd have made one in a few days.

I would say get a bespoke one made but then it would probably invalidate the warranty. Absurd situation!

what about a vehicle dismantlers for the part? The L405 has been around for 5/6 years now so there should be written off ones being dismantled. Might be a temporary solution??

JLR finance have now told me that I don't even have to repair the car to hand it back - I can pay 250 and get it recovered on a low loader...so I'll do that and relieve myself of 12.5K off final year payments. Its bonkers that how they work, but heyho, I get to go new car shopping after christmas smile

Mrs S has an Evoque, been waiting since September for a replacement rear view camera. Service has been utterly appalling and the lack of what must be a fairly common part, (I assume across various models) had me frustrated. No offer to reduce payments either. Essentially paying for a product that doesn't work fully with no way of repairing.
