Afternoon,

Looking to buy an approved used April 2016 Disco 4 with 38k on the clock from a LR dealer. Just pulled the online service history up and according to that the car wasn't serviced until 5 days ago at 38k miles, thats 31 months and 38k without a 1st service.
Its priced low to be honest and im wondering if that's why.
Should I be running for the hills or looking at money off, extending the included 2 year warranty to 3 etc?

Much obliged

Can't help with your actual question, sorry; but where do you find the history online?

Be very wary.

The V6 diesel in these and other JLR products has a nasty habit of snapping its crankshaft.

If this isn't bad enough, the LR Approved Used warranty is refusing to cover this catastrophe, citing the issue as a 'known defect' and therefore outside of the scope of the cover. Some repairs (which usually requires a new engine as major engine components aren't available) have been paid for by LR as 'goodwill'. The vehicle that you are looking at without a proper service history is unlikely to qualify.

There's plenty to read here:

I recently bought a RR with missing bits of online service history.

Turned out it had been done, dealer just hadn't entered it on the system.

Worth a call to the supplying dealer to see if they've done it.

Or write to the previous owner and ask. But beware, previous keeper details are no longer on new V5's so ask for a photocopy of the V5 before the dealer sends it off.

Thanks, appreciated. Interestingly my car says it had a service at 25650 and yet I bought it with 15920 on the clock. Approved Used too.

how many miles is it on now? has someone wound back the clock?

OP at 2 years/30k the car ought to have had 2 services including oil & filter changes - check the condition of the oil , have a look under the oil cap, wipe inside the rocker cover an have a look for thick oily residue. If the oil looks like unrefined crude black sludge then in less it is a good grand or so under priced id walk.

Also check the coolant & brake fluid condition/volume as these would be checked/topped up twice by 30k interval , if they are low/dirty again it suggests it's never been near a service tech.

LR do fixed price servicing at around £350 for annual an £500 for major.

Bought already old chap so I can't walk. To be honest the whole buying experience has been crap from pick up to after sales care and considering I spent 60k you would have hoped for something a bit more 'special.' I sent an email to the head of business last night asking them to look into it and he's got back to me first thing this morning saying they'll look into it. If they have wound it back (to be honest I'll be stunned if they have, I just can't see that they'd be that stupid, I think a service bloke has entered mileage of another car against mine) they can have the car back, under 20k was a an absolute factor for me.

Will warranty be void without a service history?
