Just bought an L322
Discussion
Sold my L405 a few weeks back for an M5 but realised that I need a 4x4 for knocking around the Devon lanes. Getting this on on Sunday from a family member who has looked after it well for the past 13 years. Looking forward to getting it. Its just had new discs, front calipers, pads and wheels. Full LR service history and fresh MOT. The tyres are my preferred choice as well along with the V8 petrol engine!

Have wanted one of these for years. Have never had enough brave pills.
As I know the history of the car and how well its been looked after I would hope that I won't come a cropper! We will see. However at £3.5k I think its a bargain compared to what I could have bought if I had been looking at a defender or series 3 LR. If I had managed to find a wreck at that price. Jonny TVR said:

£3.5k! You would have been insane not to buy it.
Excellent ! I've owned my 2002 L3222 TD6 for 8 years now and have been considering a very late 322 or early L405 TDV8 as a replacement. Would be really interested to hear how you fine the two compare.
There is something very clean about the styling on the early 322 which appeals to me. Yours looks excellent. Good luck and enjoy !!

I've owned two L322's, a TDV8 and a 5.0 Supercharged and a L405 5.0 Supercharged which I recently sold.L405 is so much better than L322.
Handles much better too, more refined.
I would never go back to a L322.
But for sure at this price point, the OP's V8 is a great buy. Congratulations with this purchase.
Thanks guys .. It does seem pure in some ways with its 18 inch wheels and no privacy glass. I used my L405 as a mile muncher doing 17K miles a year. This L322 will be used for less than 2K miles I think. Duties around the poor conditioned country lanes, extreme weather emergency vehicle, pulling my old tractor back to the house when it breaks down in a field, trailering my classic cars to the various garages and possibly some green laning.
Nice car, just got rid of mine with 175k on the clock & similar spec. If it's been well looked after you should be fine. Keep an eye on the cooling system as they can be a bit fragile, just replace any hoses that look a bit iffy. I actually ran mine on waterless coolant for the last 4/5 years and that seemed to help by keeping temps & pressures down a bit.
If it hasn't had a gearbox flush it might be worth doing that as a bit of preventative maintenance.
Enjoy they are great for a waft around & that's a great spec for the ste winter weather

Had mine for two years now and a part from a niggling Suspension problem its been ok. Its 15 years old so its not going to be perfect but the drive is really good and I keep on thinking of buying a newer one but what will I get for another £10k.-£15k
I only do about 2k a year so its hardly worked too hard.
just enjoy it

A friend bought a TD6 Vogue a few months ago for under £1500.
Reconditioned turbo, injectors serviced and a new front subframe as it was more rust than metal.
Fresh AT3s on the later 7 spoke 20s and it owes him under 4K all in.
He was going to flip it for some quick cash...
Then bought a personal plate for it and it’s now a keeper.
He loves it and bar the non working radio and sat nav. It’s behaving itself fine.

500+ miles in and I'm loving it. I feel quite attached to it already. Its great for the terrible lanes around here and wafts along on the motorway fine. The rear passenger door keeps sticking in the locked position, the drivers window is very slow and the parking sensor comes on all the time when reversing but apart from that its great. Treated it to a cheap new personalised plate Y123MUD which I thought was appropriate.

Great news - they do get under your skin, don't they? However, I would point out that your issues are minor ones and please remember that if you do decide to look at them, whatever you do, don't fix them all. The golden rule of Range Rover ownership is that as soon as you fix the last fault, a new one will appear. Hence, if you've got one minor fault, leave it well alone, as the next fault that comes along to replace it could be a great big, expensive one!
