Thanks for the response. On the left side panel, above the brake light and indicator which I think is where the plate was originally fitted from the factory.
The plate was originally mounted in the middle of the tailboard. The top piece. It hinged down to be visible with the top tailboard down. I had mine o the left. It was a standard size square shape. Have a look on the Ex military Land Rover association website for ideas.
