Hi all,

So have recently taken delivery of a 2018 RRS SVR with Land Rover's new infotainment system. A definite improvement over the last system but I don't think its the best in the business by a stretch. When speccing the car back in April and only taking delivery 2 weeks ago, there was no option to add Apple CarPlay which I find a really useful feature.

I have just noticed that it has very recently become available to order on new cars which is frustrating as presumably it is just a software install?

Does anybody know if this is something I can have added to my car or will I have to live without?

Many thanks

Tom

I believe the iPace got it at the end of September and was the first JLR car. Assuming you have the right infotainment I'd be surprised if it isn't patched in with an update.

Have you made sure it's up to date? I assume you have.

My XF-S which was built in 2015 has Android Auto etc..
It got it when I had an update to ICTP V4 recently.

Never used it though.

Car is all up to date but still nothing.

I just spoke with LR and they have said that they're not totally sure if they will be releasing it as an update yet (lie).
However he then said his older 18 Model Year Velar had it because it had been successfully updated but they didn't want a customer's car to be a guinea pig in case of any glitches. Seems to be different to each model and they're not quite there with the Sport yet.

Pretty advanced for a Jag! Going to have to wait a bit longer on this one I think.

When my D4 was in for servicing at the start of the month they had a laminated piece of A4 sellotaped to the desk offering Carplay for something like £249+VAT. So I assume it’s a software upgrade, or at least a very simple hardware modification.

Mine has an option on the settings screen, below connectivity, called software update.
Which gives;

Same here. It looks like your software number is different/newer

If they have any sense they'll be controlling it carefully by VIN, in case of issues they can then limit the scope and control how quickly it rolls out.

Looks like you have exceeded the tilt angle!

Just book your car in and say the infotainment screens keep turning off so please sort this under warranty - they will carry out the Phase IV update and when your car comes back you will have free Car Play and Android Auto - thank me later smile

It is rather buggy and does lag quite a bit though - be warned! Got mine back yesterday after the update.

As long as your car has Touch Pro it can be retro fitted. We've done a number of customer cars and I had it put into my Velar. You have an 18 SVR so it shouldn't be a problem.

Had Apple CarPlay on a previous car and it was good for replying to texts etc.

Just got a BMW 630d GT and it doesn’t have it. I can buy it and through a software download will have it...for 3 years and then it disappears. 250 quid for 3 years.

I’m not missing it to be fair and if it was 250 quid for the time I have the car I may consider it but if I have to then re-subscribe after 3 years I’ll give it a miss.

Is the 250 that JLR charge for life or for so many years?
