Is there a lack of engine choice in the UK market?
Discussion
I was browsing the LR website yesterday. I'm not in a position to buy new and I honestly doubt JLR have any real care of my views either.
But one of the vehicles that appeals is the Evoque convertible. Thinking that in a few years time a used one would be an interesting purchase. For me the appeal of open top motoring in a vehicle I can go anywhere in, i.e. across the fields at harvest or if out shooting has, well lots of appeal.
But it's a pricey sucker new. they start from £46.5k vs £31.5k for a tin top variant!!!
But despite this eye watering price. There seems to be only one engine available, a poxy 2.0 litre diesel with only enough power for circa 10 seconds to 60mph.
If it was a £20-25k SUV, ok you'd maybe accept a moderately poor spec engine. But an almost £50k car (by the time you add any options). I'd be wanting a bit more choice and a bit more engine. At least a petrol offering and maybe a V6 of some kind.

Whats your point?
Fairly obvious, I'd have thought...bakerstreet said:
I'm talking about convertibles in the modern sense
And so we start narrowing it down...bakerstreet said:
not a car where you have to get an 11mm socket a spanner out and start removing body panels.
Ah, sorry. So something like this?If you're complaining because you can turn it into a tintop with a few bolts, then doesn't that apply to any convertible for which you can add a hardtop?
Anyway, all the bolts will be 100% dibnah.
