A friend of mine bought a New Defender 2 weeks ago.
He now hates it and is very upset cause he always wanted one He paid 25K for it, its a SWB but I know nothing about Landies so not sure what the model it is.
OK then Landie fans what are his options.
Is there a good market for very new Defenders?
Any advice welcome.

I would think that he is going to take a big hit in the pocket. All he can do is try & sell it privately I would think.Or failing that LR dealers or specialists.

Try looking on some LR forums or in some LR mags.

Why does he hate it?? Poor bugger. Is there much of a wait for new 90s?

He hates it because he is commuting 40 miles each way to a new job ( hence chance to buy the car he always wanted ) and he is finding the ride very hard on his back . I think its a case of the reality of owning one not living up to expectations, but in fairness to landies its his expectations that are at fault IMHO.
He is a vet and does need to go off road sometimes but I think he would be better with a Disco or Free lander.
As for the waiting list I don`t know and he is so upset by the episode that I don`t want to bring up the subject , I was hoping that someone on here may have some bright idea of a good way out for him.
Any advice gratefully received.

Defenders that have been looked after hold their value exceptionally well, but paying 25k for a new one is a bit daft.

I assume its a special edition defender black or G4 maybe?

Dealer may give him good money against a disco.

Sounds like the 'lara croft' syndrome again.
I'll bet thats a long commute for his back each day too

I was thinking that if there's a bit of a wait for them, he may find it easier to sell. Failing that a trip back to the dealer to explain the situation and swap for a disco. But that'll depend on what the dealer is like.

On the other hand there's a big selection of aftermarket seats. My problem with the Defender is the lack of leg room in the front (I'm 6'2". This pushes my knees up, which flexes my hips and loads up my back. Depending on what model he has then to move the seats back he may need to remove the bulkhead.

Has he thought about getting it polybushed or different spring setup etc, btw i'm no expert. Also maybe different seats would help. There are loads on the market.

well he`s not a petrol head like you & me so I don`t think he will do anything to it, it sits in a paddock with grass growing high round it , seems a shame. he does have another job change soon so I think there is a chance it will become the rite tool for the job soon .
