2014 RR tailgate opening problems

Any ideas on how to reset the remote opening of my tailgate.
when using the buttons the tailgate opens and closes fine but when using the remote the top tailgate does not open fully and then the whole tailgate will not close via the remote or the door buttons.
If I open the top tailgate fully manually it still will not close so i also have to close the bottom lid manually them the tailgate will close from the buttons and the remote.
It appears that its linked to the tailgate not opening enough with the remote.
Any ideas or how to set up the remote opening?
