I had a noisy CV joint on my 2008 Range Rover full size, so brought it in to have the passenger side (right hand axle on my LHD vehicle) front shaft changed. In the process my mechanic noticed the ABS speed sensor's cable had been rubbing on the tire, and it failed when she pulled things apart.

I would expect some errors related to ABS, but the list of errors is surprising, once this occurred I get;

  • HDC FAULT - SYSTEM NOT AVAILABLE
  • Terrain Response System Faulty
  • SPECIAL PROGRAMS OFF
  • Flashing light in far lower right corner of instrument cluster constant flash (appears to be a driving light with an arrow / seems my headlights no longer track with wheel turn angle
  • Vehicle Lowered error message (along with this the button for setting height is illuminated in the up position most of the time / you can not change height, and it appears vehicle is actually at normal ride height)
  • Parking Brake Error
  • ABS warning light flashing
  • Traction control warning light flashing
  • Hill decent can not be engaged
Can these all be traced back to that one issue? She did try resetting codes (I don't have a list of codes that came up), but this didn't resolve any of these.

I will have it back in when the replacement ABS sensor arrives, but just wanted to know if these are known related issues.

Cheers,

Rob.

Yes.

My Disco 4 had an ABS/speed sensor go and I had all those faults.

Seems that without a speed reading, non of those things can work.

Thanks Steviesam - hoping for the same results, yes, very inexpensive repair if this does the trick. Thankful to hear you had the same experience, I can turn down the panic and sleep nights.

I have had such minor issues with the vehicle, maintenance has been down right inexpensive, and I have about 315,000km on it. I was getting worried it might have finally reached the end, and was experiencing some significant electronics failure.

Will give a final update to the thread in a few days.

Cheers.

Just to close the loop. The ABS sensor was replaced and all the errors cleared - some made total sense to me, some a little less so, but relieved that they were all sorted out.
