Why is it so hard

I must have looked at 7 or 8 rr's in the last few weeks.
I started out looking at early supercharged cars and ended up looking at 4.4 tdv8's. Ranging from 7 to 17k.
Every single one had rot as well as other issues like diff noise, massive oil leaks and kit not working.
Where are all the good ones?

Interesting - I've been investigating which L322 would potentially suit me so been looking online at similar ones to you.
I have to say, the best looking ones (and with the most honest descriptions) seem to appear on the fullfatrr for sale forum (theres a nice looking MY10 3.6 TDV8 posted on there today)
Can I ask which early SC cars you've seen? Might save me a few wasted miles! (PM if you want)

Unfortunately (in common with most luxury stuff - not just LRs) they have fallen into the price bracket of people who can buy them but can't afford to run them. Take it from someone who used to work on Range Rovers - running them on a shoestring just leads to major issues further down the line.
Your best bet is one that has not changed hands too often - people tend to keep 'good' ones and quickly shift on 'bad' ones. Owners are also more likely to have doted on / well-maintained a vehicle that they've owned for a while and are happy with - as opposed to just doing the bare minimum to get it through the MOT each year.
Hope you find 'the one' that ticks the boxes!

This is the correct answer. On FFRR you regularly find very well looked-after cars offered for sale. It's a friendly site with a wealth of knowledge, and it's where I found my car (a 2011 TDV8 4.4 which has been perfect). Or you can join and post a "wanted" ad.Always better to buy from an enthusiast, especially if they have a long posting history.

Errr...Where? I thought L322 rot was inner wheel arches and behind the sills and I didn't think you could actually spot either unless you remove the plastic cover for the sills and arch liner for the arches? Also the FullFat L322 and facelift were front and rear sub frames and unibody, so no chassis so to speak.
