L405 SDV8 Front Suspension Knocking - LTB00557v8 - Help!
Discussion
Hi Gents,
I am dealing with the famous suspension knocking issue on the 2014 SDV8 L405. Car already been 2 times to Hunters with no luck yet.
On the 1st visit they have replaced the bushes and the lower control arms. It was an improvement but knocking is still clearly audible.
On the 2nd visit, i mentioned the LTB00557v8 and the service advisor said they have carried that out and all my anti-roll parts are replaced with the latest available. Massive improvement on the handling, car feels much more tighter and flat however knocking is exactly same as before.
I recently bought the car have had some other issues ongoing with the suspension. They have sorted other bits but as it all added up i have spoken to head of business to reject the car by saying i have given them enough opportunity to rectify it. But in reality i like it and i would like to keep it Smile
He put me in touch with the workshop manager who explained ARC valve block was not replaced on the 2nd visit under LTB00557v8 as the bulltin does not instruct upgrade of the ARC valve block.
Guys at Hunters are trying to be helpful, i have mentioned about online forums and the information i had from here. They have kindly asked if we can provide a registration number that has the knocking fixed. Hunters are happy to check history of that car and do whatever needs to be done on my car and the other cars to follow.
Car is booked in for this Friday for the 3rd time, i am going for test drive with senior tech, and also they promised to arrange post 2015 SDV8 car to go out again as i mentioned post 2015 cars have the newer design twin damper ARC valve block and should not knock.
I know there are few other open topic which i have read them all but wanted to open new one and share all my experience to give it a bit more visibility under the new topic.
Sorry for the length but i am hoping this should help anyone who has to deal with this in the future.

Morning. Whilst I don't have a 2014 RR, the knocking that you experiencing does scream arm bushes and upper/lower arms. Despite recent RRs shedding a lot of weight their are still the best part of two tonne cars and that weight puts a lot of stress on the suspension.I am dealing with the famous suspension knocking issue on the 2014 SDV8 L405. Do you think the valve block and the knocking are linked? I can't see how they could be. Leaking valve block would most likely throw up an error or the car would sink.
Yes, i got it sorted in the end. Lower control arms, anti roll bushes were all replaced earlier although it helped, knocking was still obvious.
ARC Valve block was the issue, its design issue and pre Aug 2014 built V8s affected. There is bulletin raised by Land Rover LTB00557v8 . Please see the old vs new design valve with 2 valves.
It took me 3 visits to dealership to get them replace it. I have printed the technical bulletin pdf and discussed with the master tech and workshop controller.

found it on topix !! its now under tech bulletin LTB00557V9 has anyone had this work done in West/South Yorkshire area ( I will travel further to get the work done) so i can take to dealer who knows about this please

Hi ,
I have front bottom bushes replaced due to knocking while breaking in my L405 3.0 diesel reg ‘64 and alignment was done with a few corrections in a main dealer but since then the car rolling unpleasantly to both sides. It is not that tight and flat as it was before the repair.
The dealer keep saying all was checked and is fine but I feel differently.
Would you say it might be something with anti roll bars or/and ARC valve block or anything else?
Thanks

Hi , I am currently going through the same issues. Lower arms changed and then one strut......still knocking. What garage did you get this repaired at ? My main dealer is refusing to acknowledge the service bulletin that clearly instructs them to change the valve block. I assume this is because the approved warranty won’t cover the replacement! Would you say this is a marked improvement? Would like to drive a car that has this fitted to see. Mine slams into holes and the dashboard rattled since they changed out the lower arms.
