So far: a '94Defender90 300TDi with 140k miles @£4k and a @'65 S2A 2.25petrol handpainted, had a bit of welding, wires hanging under the dash etc @£1k.
Not actually seen either vehicle, just telephone description of first and photos of second.
Newer one seems expensive, older one may not be reliable but has free tax & classic insurance.
Any comments?

Both are brilliant cars, the series 2a if its a canvas tilt will be mega fun in the summer (especially if you take the windscreen down!), but irritating in the winter if its a bit shabby and leaky. Both engines are relatively trouble free, with the 300tdi still regarded as one of the best in many land rover circles. The Defender is better off road and quicker and more economical (depending on the state of the engines). Also if you intend to do any long distance motorway driving you will want an overdrive for the series 2, to make progress a little more rapid.
