Warranty, Servicing & Insurance
Discussion
Am I right in thinking that you do not have to get your Land Rover serviced at a main dealer to keep the warranty valid.
Also if your insurance company does not use OE parts in the event of an accident or a mechanical fault, does this also invalidate the warranty.
As you may guess this is what I have been told by the main dealer who I have just bought a car from, but from memory I don't think it is the case.

Your dealer is incorrect.
You can have you car serviced at any VAT registered garage of your choice, as long as they use the manufacturers genuine components. This has been so under the block exemption rules 2001.
As for Insurance companies repairing a car with other than genuine components, repairers will always use new and genuine components on all repairs, unless the vehicle is of an age that to use genuine would effectively write the vehicle off.

Unless you're leasing it. Then you must do what the leasing company says. You can have you car serviced at any VAT registered garage of your choice, as long as they use the manufacturers genuine components. This has been so under the block exemption rules 2001.
