Hi,

Need a new set of 255/50/20 tyres for my Disco. Currently have Pirelli Scorpions on there. Is there anything harder wearing? Was offered a new set of Pirellis for £350 that came off a Range Rover but the profile was 55 whereas my Disco ones are 50. Has anyone put 55's on a Disco 4?

Thanks

Scorpions are about the best, I think.
I tried Toyo SUV Proxes. Only got half the mileage.

I have 19 inch General Gr 255/55/19 tyres on my SDV6 Disco 4. They are expensive each to buy and I considered going the other way down to a 255/50/19 profile. The 5 difference is about quarter of an inch lower so wont make that much difference but the price is lower. The ride will be a bit harder but it will corner better being lower.

Anyone out there know of a good tyre supplier for 255/55/19 tyres for my Disco 4?
I have Gen Grabber AT now and will soon need two more on the front. I have seen many cheapo ones like HIFLY etc and I can get two for the price of one G/Grabber. I also see the G/Grab tyres are not well rated for rain or road noise and the cheapo ones are rated much higher..... Odd that.
I would like to keep the G/Grab AT if possible so they are all the same but if there are better others I would buy them.
I mainly need them for road use and some mud or farm muck on the small roads in Devon/Cornwall.

I’ve got Gen Grabber AT 3 on my RRS. Had them for a little over a year now. Seem to be wearing well. No issues in the wet. Not bad road noise considering the AT tread pattern.

Not Disco 4 admittedly but I have Hankook Ventus 275/45/20 on my 2010 RRS TDV8.

25k miles done so far and at least another 10k life left. No complaints. They were £135 each.

Not rated?? What does that mean? The General Grabber AT3 is pretty much the to go to tyre in 19/20in for the D3/4. Good off road an on. People do complain of soft side walls though. I've not had any issues with mine and they have been on for about 7k.

There are people out there who have got well over 30k for a set.

Not well rated. It's ok on dry tarmac (extra noise aside) but it doesn't exactly offer an excess amount of grip when the road is wet either under braking or laterally. Both those observations are comparing with a more road dedicated tyre.
I like them but am well aware of them being a compromise, sometimes too much of a compromise for road use.
