We are seriously considering a new Discovery 4 SE Tech. Does anybody know of any deals out there?

Also, any strong opinions on whether it's a good / bad idea to be buying a new one given the D5 will be out next year?

Definitely worth buying now, good deals to be had. The new model is bound to be more like a Range Rover with everything controlled through the touchscreen, after having several RR recently it is so nice to jump in a Discovery and find switches for all the commonly used controls.

A full size spare alloy wheel & tyre is more than worth the 200 quid cost

I agree but the reason it is that cheap is that you get a skinny as standard.

Try Carwow - some good deals to be had on there when I was looking a few months ago!

Bear in mind that only the two special edition models can be factory ordered now so anything else will need to be a stock vehicle.

Ordered mine the other month. Full size spare wheel is standard I was told.

It is also listed on the website as standard. There is no option to spec. otherwise.

It's the only vehicle in the range to have the full size spare as standard. My current one certainly has a full size spare.

I thought that but depending how you navigate the LR website you either get the page that only gives you the 2 special editions and the commercial http://rules.config.landrover.com/jdxl/en_gb/l319/... or if you go another way you get the whole range that you can build to your spec. http://www.landrover.co.uk/vehicles/discovery/mode...

Websites tend to lag reality, ring a dealer.

Mine's two years old so must have changed since then. It was a no brainer upgrade so, I guess, they worked out it should be standard on a car like this.

I'm going in at the weekend to see if they have a build date for mine yet so will ask, although the dealer is pretty clueless as well.

For example. I am getting another commercial. I want colour coded wheel arches this time. It was an option on the website previously. Then it disappeared from the site and the virtual car showed all colour coded as you specced it up, even though the description of the vehicle still states the black wheel arches. I asked the dealer to confirm I would get all colour coded, 25 minutes of calls later they were 'pretty sure' it would be colour coded!? Interested to see what turns up!

You've got me wondering now, my current one is 18 months old and I am not sure if we had to pay for the full size spare or not, I know I asked for it. Will dig out the receipt for it!

When ordering the new one last month I asked for the full size spare and was categorically told they come with it as standard. Will double check on Saturday.
