Hi there, over the weekend my 2010 3.6tdv8 started making a strange noise between 1,000 and 1,500rpm (see video) It's not gearbox as it does it while stationary. There is no smoke from anywhere, no loss of power etc. I had the top cover off yesterday but couldn't pinpoint the issue but it sounds like it's the drivers side. It does smell quite hot in there though? Any advice appreciated!!

check the alternator voltage, i had a slight whine(not as loud as that) on mine then the alternator went no lights on the dash etc.

Alternator is low down on drivers side. it may be putting out the right voltage now but could just be on its way out. mine lasted about 2 weeks before it went once the whine started

Afternoon Mark

I have the same noises coming from my L322 Tdv8 3.6 which you have posted in the above video, can you please if possible, let me know if you found out what it was? And how it was resolved.

I appreciate this is an old thread and you may not have this vehicle anymore. But any help would be appreciated.

Many thanks

Might be worth a post on FFRR forum or RRS forum as helpful and knowledge there on that engine is extensive.
