Discovery 3/4 Commercial
Discussion
I'm considering a Disco 3 or 4 Commercial instead of buying a van. The Disco would be run through my Ltd. Company and is attractive because it has a lot of the practicality of a van with superb towing capacity. Downsides are the MPG and of course the lack of rear seats.
Does anybody here run a Disco Commercial? Are they recommended? I've spotted a D4 SDV6 GS which isn't the most luxurious spec but I can live without leather seats or sat nav. Is there much of a difference between a late model D3 and a D4?
Thanks in advance.

I looked at this one yesterday

What do you think?
I think the early D4's were 2.7 but then they move to the 3l SDV6.

I have a D4 commercial with the 3l SDV6. Great bit of kit.
If you need rear seats speak to these guys http://www.scotseats.co.uk/landrover.htm

Would you mind me asking what spec? Is there anything that you feel is essential as the one I'm looking at is low spec but appears to have everything I actually need. If you need rear seats speak to these guys http://www.scotseats.co.uk/landrover.htm

I added heated and electric seats with armrests, tow pack, powerfold mirrors and rear camera.
I would try and find one with the touchscreen nav if you can.

The budget I'm working to either puts me at the bottom of the D4 choices or a decent spec D3 so I don't think I'll get too many toys and whilst touchscreen nav is nice to have, I can do without and just get a TomTom.
There's a MY2012 D4 Commercial for sale on the D3/4 forum

I have a D3 commercial.
It's a manual, which I don't mind, would have taken an auto but happy with the manual.
I have heated leather seats, heated windscreen, climate control, 6 disc Harmon Kardon stereo, cruise control, rear parking sensors.
Don't have sun-roof, sat nav or electric seats. None of which I am that bothered about.
It doesn't have the factory blue-tooth either but has an aftermarket blue-tooth kit.
Compared to a van it is much, much, more comfortable to drive a long distance in. I part-exchanged a Merc Vito for the D3.
Mpg is slightly less, but I generally get more miles per tank. (but tank costs a bit more to fill, obv)
Not the same load area as the Vito, but more than a Combo/Courier. High loading level may be an issue for some, but being able to lower the suspension helps a little.
I was considering a double cab pick-up but the D3 is a better drive and has more load space than any pick-up, an is better to drive than any I have tried.
Only real draw back is the lack of rear seats, but it' not an issue for me and depending on the use you have for it the pup-up rear seats could be an option. (I have a full load floor and mesh bulk-head so rear seats aren't n option without big changes)
