Anybody had a Chip/intercooler/turbo/air filter/exhaust/other performance upgrade done on there defender TD5 recently.
JEengineering claim 190bhp from a chip/intercooler.....is this a bit optimistic?
Essexturbochargers claim (i think ) about 170 bhp from achip/intercooler and bigger turbo and recommend re gearing the transfer box aswell. Is this a good idea for mainly road work. Are these more realistic figures.?
Insurance companies that are modification friendly?

Thanks

Graham

Well i have the je stage 2 conversion ( chip Plus intercooler) It was recommended to me by the l/r main dealer!!!!

with the difference it makes 190 if anything is underestimating it, although it does cayr by vehicle.

you still have feck all torque at low rpm, but i think even that is better than standard. the boost comes in much stronger and more progressivly than before..

and an added bonus the mpg is better !!!

p.s. I'd still prefer a V8!!!!!

Thanks graham
I,ve currently got a Ford Lightning Pick up that I am selling ( marvelous truck ,too big for our lanes and too uninvolving)and always hankered after a defender.Don't want to run a V8 as a daily driver or I'd consider a V8 anniversary.( don't want an auto either....had 2 classic RR's and much prefered the manual one ).I see you are starting to look at American stuff.Someone I know has just bought a Dodge and we both agreed that my Ford was better screwed together and finished than his Dodge.

from the research i have done the chevy silverado ss sounds the best yank truck to drive..

I have always been a landy fan
and i've currently got an s III, a 300 series 3.9 disco and an 03 Disco commercial td5.

the next logical move would be a disco 3 commercial but they say they will not do it.(mind you thats been beaten hard with the fugly stick)

not sure why as to be honest how ever much i loved my 90 they are sh1t in terms of interior comfort and build quality and fecking expensive.

hence looking at dodge ect to replace it. Im no even going to consider L200/navara id rather have a micra..

the ford doesnt come into the equasion as well its a ford and thats enough said....

although i do fancy somthing i coulod get the wife and sprog in, as long as its vat recoverable and has a V8...
