the best info i can give you is to do 4 things....

1.) Search this forum
2.) Search Landyzone forum
3.) Search Defender2 forum.
4.) Come back with some more context and questions

Everything you want to do in your one line OP is possible, just a matter of time and money.

Can be hard work. Needs a different sump to get clearance. Bulkhead needs to be cut for the SC version of the AJ unit. And the DOHC heads mean a bonnet scoop.

On the cheap you can just jack the engine up and shift it forward. Hardly prudent.

JE Engineering do a proper conversion.

Personally, I wouldn't use the 4.2 sc but get a later 5.0 NA unit as it produces the same power and is an easier install.

Hi,

I bought the parts to connect the engine at www.automotivecomp.com and it all fitted well.
So now I have the 4.2 sc engine and 4HP24xx gearbox in the 110 body for measuring.

Putted the gearbox in the original hight and placed it horizontal (for driveshaft wear), but 10cm backwards.
The engine is horizontal also now, and apart from some simple body adjustments (at the new jaguar exhausts) all can be fitted.
There is just enough steeringhouse clearance, and a lot of space for the radiators in the front.
And it looks like I can put the Original bonnet on again, which I would really like.

In this configuration the engine sump (RR sport) sticks out 7 cm under the chassis, where the front-axle goes.
Next step is to put the axle in place, and alter the bumpstops.

Question: Looking at the from-above-taken-pictures from JE and Twisted site, their engine is placed much higher in the body ad not horizontal.
Why did they put the engine/gearbox that high, which is of course possible, but neccessary?

If you have some advice or pictures, like from the underneath-bottomview, that would be very helpfull.

Keep in mind, I don't use the car for (heavy) off road.

Yes, please post up some info pics and stuff you've had to do.

when you say 4.2sc I assume you are meaning a Jag AJV8 engine? Is that a custom bell housing you are using to mate to the ZF or did it bolt up pretty easy? Assume you are running an LT230 still?

I'd also be interested in details of the conversion work. I'd considered this engine a few years ago when I gave my 100" Bowler a major refit. It was a choice of AJ V8 or TDV6 but in the end I kept the light and reliable Rover V8, lack of time and tight budget were major factors in the decision.
