Looking to get a defender 90 but just wondering if there's a better model for tuning? 2.4? 2.2? What can you get out of them without a complete engine change?!?

No personal experience but I'm doing some research myself as I'm about to take delivery of a new Defender. JE Engineering seem to be the defacto choice for hardcore tuning (they do a 5 litre conversion!) and I have also found Tune My Defender who offer more sensible upgrades. Google will get you to both.

Hi,
There are multiple companies available for you to use, my recommended one is Twisted Performance in Thirsk, as I know many vehicles that have come out their workshop and now go like the clappers! As far as engines go, I'd get a 2.4 TDCi as there are more parts available thanks to the longer time the engine has been available. Any queries just let me know and I'll be happy to help, I'm a bit of an anorak when it comes to Land Rovers smile

Lots of info on Defender2.net. I don't recall Twisted being mentioned much on there...
My preference between the 2.4 and the 2.2 would be the 2.4 due to the 2.2 having a DPF , though the good tuners (discussed may times on Def2) can do wonders with the 2.2 as well.
