Freelander - Back door latch
Discussion
The rear door sometimes fails to latch when it’s closed, although it has been adjusted and lubricated it still fails to latch.
The electronics/sensors in the door are working because the window moves up when the door is pushed shut and held shut and the glass drops before the door is allowed to open when the handle is depressed.
I have a feeling that something mechanical like a spring has broken inside that holds the mechanism in the shut position.
This happens occasionally so something is definitely wrong any ideas?
Also is the mechanism easy to get to?
Thanks

Sounds like its time for a new Tailgate lock. Not to much of a problem to fit. Just take the door card off and its all self explanatory.
Good luck.
