I HAVE A MISSFIRE ON MY 1997R V8 I HAVE CHANGED THE DISSY- PLUGS AND LEADS BUT STILL GOT A DEAD CYLINDER,IT MIGHT BE A VALVE BUT COULD IT BE DUE TO ANYTHING ELSE BEFORE I GET INTO CYLINDERHEAD REMOVAL

I take it you have sparks at that cylinder?
Pull rocker covers and check the valves are opening the same amount. You may have lost a cam lobe. If so you may choose to just replace the cam and leave the heads alone. Not ideal but quick and with the engine still in the car.

THANKYOU FOR YOUR HELP IT TURNED OUT TO BE A WRONG CONNECTION ON THE DISSY DUE TO SOME SCUMBAG MESSING ABOUT WITH IT WHILE IT WAS IN THE AUCTION PRIOR TO ME BUYING IT TO MAKE IT SOUND ROUGH,WHEN I PUT THE NEW DISSY ON I JUST COPPIED FROM THE OLD ONE MY HONEST MECHANIC FOUND IT PRIOR TO A HEAD REMOVAL,IT RUNS LIKE A DREAM NOW.
