Just put a deposit down on a 1999 TD5 Disco. It looks absolutely superb, a proper little 'green' gem.

Cant wait to pick it up on Tuesday.

Edited to say that i decided to pay a little more money to get a newer one (TD5) instead of a 300.... hope that i dont regret it.

my td5 is very different to the wifies 300 series v8.

overall ( minus the td5 v v8 argument)its a better vechicle i dont think you'll regret your choice.

all you need to do now is book it in to JE-engineering to work on the sloath like diesel engine. i hate to think how bad the 300 tdi must be cos the standard td5 used to drive me mad... its a differenet matter with 200bhp though id be interested to hear what mpg you get is i get around 25 in overall driving the same as my mates auto.

cheers
enjoy

Well it will be ok when i eventually get it.
The Dealer phoned me up yesterday and said that i cant pick it up today as planned because whilst they were giving it its 102 point check.......they found that the Water pump was starting to leak and that they will fit a new 'Land Rover' one today.
Things should be ok for a pick up tomorrow.......one more day i suppose wont hurt me?

I’ve had my 99 TD5 Dico for just over a year now. Absolutely no problems at all.
I took it to an independent LR specialist for it’s 78k mile service last month. £420 including MOT and new rear brake pads, at an independent LR specialist.
Went off road for a couple of miles this evening, along a waterlogged mud and grass lane. GENERAL STs worked very well considering they are mainly road biased. In fact I was a little disappointed that the traction control never kicked in.
I was likewise concerned about spending the extra money for a TD5. But now I am glad I did, superb car. I hope you enjoy yours.

There's an article about that in this month's LRO

Enjoy it Tony, remember, if you can see paint on the doors after off roading, you're not trying hard enough
