MPG on a 3.9 Disco

Can anyone give me an idea on the MPG i could expect from a 3.9 Disco.

I know that the ones at work used to give us about 7 in a tour of duty but they carry a lot of equipment and are driven on Blue light runs.

I don't know about the disco but my 4.0 Defender does about 16mpg on the work run (30 - 50mph). I'm sure you know but the 3.9 Disco and the 4.0 Defender are the same engine.

My (auto) 3.9 gets about 13mpg round town.

About 21 on a run, except if I'm towing the Chim, in which case it's about 8.

I dont know if im the best example as i seem to get good mpg in v8's and bad in diesel somthing about the way i

but the wifies 130k 3.9 gets 18-20 mpg most of the time and down to about 16 when she trundles to work.

in comparison i only get 25ish out of my 03 reg TD5 ( ok the a/c is on constantly)

Interestingly i dont get much difference in either when i tow the race car either , only a couple of mpg less


the v8 is soooo much nicer to drive.. in standard form

although my td5 is no longer standard and thats another thread
