I swapped the viscous unit on my 3.9 Range rover for a single Pacet electric fan. Was it worth it?? Depends on what you mean by worth it, it didnt save me any money, all this talk of improved fuel comsumption is utter bollocks. It did make the car run quieter and it seems smoother. The fan kit cost me just over £100 from Scorpion Racing and was a dodle to fit. I've since wired in a manual override swith so I can either have it on, off or controled automatically by the thermostat.
If I was going to do it again I'd go to the scrap yard and buy a twin fan set up from either a citroen or Peugeot diesel car and get the thermostat from RS. It would be much cheaper and still a doddle to do.
Hope this helps
