Discovery - Headlight thefts

Chap I know had the headlights stolen from his 2003 Discovery about 6 weeks ago. Replaced them and had bonnet fixed, cost around £500. Thieving pikies then came back and stole the replacements.

Anyone else heard of this particular problem? If so, is there a solution (such as bolts that break off when trying to remove - so can only be drilled out).

Local LR dealer has had this happen on their forecourt with older Discos. Also had a Defender in for replacement bonnet, wings and dashboard after it had been stripped down by the pikies. I have seen similar reports of this kind of theft on PHs before.

I had it happen to me on a TD5 in Spain in about 2000 once, and couldn't at the time figure out how it had been done.

Similar - not same! Not heard of headlight going before - but have heard about bonnets and wings.

Defenders - quite common. Not heard about disco's though.

Not sure where you are based, however I have seen a disco running full speed at traffic island keep left bollards. Resulting damage was headlights (at least thats what smashed off) this was last week. I expect it requires a regular supply of headlights!
