I changed the autobox oil and filter the other day on my L494 RRS supercharged.
Obviously being a home jobby I was never going to get all 8+ltrs out of everywhere, but I still managed to change around six litres for shiny new oil which I think is satisfactory for now.
There was no symptomatic reason for the change, purely preventative maintenance at 47k miles - and it is most probably all in my head, but the almost imperceptible lurch when changing back down to 1st when cold has gone. It remains a smooth gearbox.

Brake pad advice please - 2002 TD5 110. My garage installed new calipers for me (back and front) a couple of months ago and I took the opportunity to replace the front pads with new Bearmach items. Didn't replace the rears as they still had some meat. The braking is nowhere near as good as it was before, despite all the new components and the pads squeal. It stops but I can't lock the wheels and I don't have ABS! Said garage suggested I get better quality pads.
I have vented discs if that makes a difference. Can anyone suggest some pads that stop better and don't squeal?
Pic below to show show progress - Painted wheels, arches, grille, light surrounds and fitted new BFG KM3 tyres,

What with the plague, work, the new house away from where it's kept, and seeing the (now ex) GF, I haven't really been using the Land Rover as much as I'd have liked.
I had a chance to rectify that over the BH weekend though when I went shooting with PH Pal Jimmy Recard and his Mrs - being a lovely day we both coincidentally chose the classic option without consulting each other!
I brought my 1982 88" County and he rocked up in his dad's 1972 Suffix-A Range Rover. A match made only more perfect by the vintage farmyard backdrop of our shoot!
I was rather jealous how comfy, capable and V8-sounding the RR was compared to my bouncy and gutless Series

ChemicalChaos - you can fix your "gutless" series by fitting the excellent ACR gas-flowed cylinder head and SU carburetter manifold, my dad's 88" Series One is able to safely keep up with modern traffic since we fitted it around 2008.
I've got an ACR head an a Weber on mine, the extra 5-10bhp still doesnt make much of a dent in the aerodynamics or indeed the weight especially with the heavy CSW tropical roof, compared to a featherweight S1.Probably also doesn't help that mine is on LWB 7.50 tyres, as I decided I'd prefer more relaxed cruising and took the hit on the acceleration

that roof is made of aluminium !!! .......and it cuts down on heat in the cab.
I know exactly what it is and what it does.... still doesnt stop it being bloody heavy though compared to a normal hardtop once you add the glass and soundproofing etc that roof is made of aluminium !!! .......and it cuts down on heat in the cab.
