@Digga.....I wish you hadn't done that. A coat of paint just won't cut it now.

I was thinking probably black, mainly because I have a tin in the shed already smile

Allow me to be even less helpful then: http://www.johncraddockltd.co.uk/wheels-and-tyres/...hehe

TBH, if I had your wheels, I'd tend to think I'd paint them myself rather than buy more.

Did you fit the snorkel yourself? Where did it come from, and how does it feed the V8? Pictures please!
No it was on the car when I bought it, it's actually I bodge up of gutter pipe and elbows.

It was connected via a flexible pipe to the large airbox on the su carbs.

I did fit a genuine safari snorkel to my old v8 90, it comes with you need if you have a standard v8 on carbs.

Ah, thanks. That looks like a side-mount though? My 90 has the top-mount vents, so I guess I'd need to change the wings. Not a huge priority just now but it's somewhere on the to-do (or should that be "want"!) list.

Ok no problems.

I did think that all defenders had an air intake on the side though, the top mounted wing vents are usually intakes for the heater,,at least the one on the passenger side is.

I could be wrong of course, and perhaps yours does breathe through the drivers side top wing mounted vent.

If you look at the link I provided to the safari snorkels they only offer them for side wing mounted on either the driver or passenger side depending in what age and energize type.

Even if yours has no vent in the side, the kits come with a template to stick onto the wing to measure it up for drilling and cutting.

Technically mine's a 90 not a Defender - one of the earliest, so that's probably the difference. Mine has two wing-top vents, as you say the NS one os for the heater and the OS one just vents straight into the engine bay via the grille on top. But if the kits come with a cutting template than that's job jobbed - thanks!

Yep as indeed is mine, it was before they changed it to Defender naming convention too.

Of course mine could have had its wing changed at any time, who knows.

Make sure you post some pics when you have it fitted!!

Have fun.

Not with those sidesteps fitted it wouldn't have been.

I had them, mine are new bent like pretzels but make good rock sliders and all i need to do is get some people to jump on them to bend them down and into line again.

Proper rock sliders are on the cards. smile

I did this to mine today weepingweepingweeping

On a single track lane with drystone-wall lined passing alcoves every so often, I had to squeeze right over to allow a big trailer past. Unfortunately I squeezed a tiny bit too far over and kissed the wall.... my first boo-boo in 4 and a half years of driving, and just as I was about to put the bumper up for sale as well! banghead

On the plus side, it's confined the removable colour-coding panel, which can be filled and touched up back to silver, or just filled and left for whoever buys it to colour it to their truck
