Quick advice required please team. The wife took the 67 for test today and the old MOT chap had gone, the spotty replacement failed the car for having sealed beams! "aim that dazzles other road users". They have passed every year for the past 10 years since the rebuld, have not been touched and only get switched on for the MOT each year. How do I persuade this yoof that they are legal?
Is ther anything in the testers manual i need to know? I think they will be section 1.8 British american type??? Many thanks. Steve

Since it sounds like you're swapping them in and out, have you checked the alignment yourself ?

The lamps have not been swapped or touched or used (except for MOT test) for 10 years, the car is never used at night, thats why I cant understand the fail.

Sealed beams OK but sounds like alignment could be out. I'd do a quick check against the garage door.

Do they have a 1 or a 2 or an E mark on the glass, more than likely the 1 or 2 which means they are British American type and have a different pattern to E marked. He should be going off the "Hotspot" not a horizontal line and kickup as with modern European lights.
Tell him to read the testers manual section 1.8 Fully

Thanks Jag racer. both have an E on a circle.
I will be talking to him on Saturday.
I know the alignment is fine as it never been altered and looks ok on the garage wall.
thanks again

Any decent tester would offer to adjust them if that was the only fail point!!
