As per my 850 thread.

I have a bit of work to do, and i want to at this point try and stave off the dreaded rust......

can those in the know please advise me on the products i should be using......

Now i am thinking waxoyle from the sills and down, arches, sub frames (they have been powder coated)

but i don't think its appropriate in the doors, interior floors. So i hear about this "cavity wax" What do i use....? (product?)

Also when i drill the holes for the arches out, should i then touch up paint (so no exposed metal is left) and use a tiny bead of silicon when fitting?

I essentially want to keep rust off the shell (this is something that is difficult granted, but more possible with care). It does not have to be concours standard, but practical, neat, and lasting.

Also i need to / want to seal the paint work, i need a hardcore bad boy wax i can apply easily that would act like a varnish, but with flexability. The car will not be a show car, but every day one; one i want to keep for the next 30 years or so. I have the chance to do a lot of preventitive work now.

suggestions?

many thanks.

Rob

p.s Halfrauds have fk all in the way of decent looking products....

Buy this months, previous two months and future months of Practical Classics:

They are test various rust related products on a bare metal Ford Sierra!

Some interesting results already, this month they have tested rust converters.

If you have the money the waxoil in the shops and the stuff that the pros use are diffrent. I understand this is becuse of the hamfull product in it. (This came from PPC magazen and a supplyer). So if you can get is done by a pro can be worth doing.

im cheap..

5 litre tin of wax oil, put it in boiling water to go runny, add a litre of 'duck oil' to thin it further.

spray on

park on lawn to drip dry

repeat every couple of years!

works a treat - stinks a lot though!

Had a really good chat with them yesterday and then they relieved me of £150 notes but I have everything I need and more, thank you for that reccomendation, nice people to deal with.
