Swift gti engine in mini
Discussion
saw the feature car in mini Magazine june issue...
very interesting. 100bhp / 83lbft out of 1298cc engine + 5 speed gearbox.
no bodywork modifcation required.
I want to do same!!!!
But little prob is, i got servo based brakes, the engine is in the way of servo as the feature mini run without servo.
i prefer to run servo as you get more power in braking.
The idea is pretty good though.
Better research more about this engine.

A friend posted this link to me as he's converting a 4x4 saloon swift. Shows you what this little motor is capable of.

Erm. That's not quite true actually. The servo reduces the effort required moving the pedal, it doesn't make the car stop any quicker. If you dont have a servo you just have to push the pedal a bit harder.
I have run my Minis with and without servos, and I prefer without. It's personal preference, but don't stop doing a decent engine swap thinking that you have to have servo brakes.
Best wishes

hmmm I never knew that! I always felt that my mini stopped an awful lot quicker with servoed brakes? very interesting! and to think I spent £150 fitting a servo! bugger!
Another conversion worth looking at is the allspeed engineering vauxhall 1.6 8v conversion which also fits into a standard mini nose. I emailled them and they said they could do it for me for £4,500, or they will sell you a kit. It makes 105bhp has a 5 speed gearbox, is easier for spares and you'd get the help form the allspeed guys if you need it.
