Hi, I'm using a mini heater in a project due to space constraints.

This one, in fact

Would somebody mind adding a label to each of the ducts and pipes as I'm not sure what goes where? I need to put some piping in from an intake on the scuttle into the heater unit before I can fit it. But it looks like there's two air intakes on this, one each side of the motor drum. Am I being thick I wonder.

The water hoses are reasonably obvious, but does it matter which hose carries the heater valve, and inlet/outlet orientation?

The vent control slider thingy moves the flap inside, but the flap is rather flappy. Is this a concern?

Many thanks

Can't answer your question (other than I think it makes no difference which water hose goes where) but if you have problems with it I think I have one stashed away in the garage.

the two outlets on the front of the heater go to the scuttle vents on a mini, someone correct me if im wrong but i dont think the water hoses matter to much, and the big one at the back is the inlet

Ok hoses are now sorted. Thanks.

So the outlets at the front/side get ducted to the demist vents, where does the warm air for the car come from? Just vents from the non ducted outlets on the heater body?

Also, the big fresh air intake has me baffled a bit. There's one on the right (top right in my photo) that the blower drum is visible in, and one on the left (top left in photo) that has a sort of mesh filter over. I'm guessing the right side is the intake, and the left is for motor cooling or pressure dumping or something along those lines?

To be honest, I think your expectations vis-a-vis the design and construction quality of that item may be a touch optimistic hehe

the hole behind the water pipes is the fresh air in on a mini a pipe connects from the heater to the outlet wich runs under the wing above the wheel and connects to the inner wing near the front grill

Surely not?! Minis are renowned for their incredibly hot, well blown powerful heating systems I thought!

Thanks for your help everyone

If you want the best out of the heater it's well worth taking the side panels off and cleaning out all the crud. When you reassemble, use seam sealer or silicone to seal the sides of the box on the inside. Use some new foam to wrap around the matrix (this makes sure no air escapes past the matrix).

Did this to mine and gave it a nice lick of paint and it works a treat, no air leaks and it clears a screen nicely.
